Il Campionato Europeo O’Pen Skiff di Calasetta diventa Campionato del Mondo 2026
Importante aggiornamento nel calendario internazionale della classe O’Pen Skiff: il Campionato Europeo previsto a Calasetta dal 25 al 31 luglio 2026 sarà elevato a Campionato del Mondo della classe.

La decisione è stata comunicata dalla classe internazionale O’Pen Skiff a seguito della situazione che coinvolge Tahe Outdoors France, azienda produttrice dell’imbarcazione O’Pen Skiff, che il 27 febbraio 2026 ha avviato una procedura di riorganizzazione giudiziaria presso il Tribunale Commerciale di Vannes, in Francia. Si tratta di una procedura prevista dalla normativa francese che consente all’azienda di continuare la propria attività mentre viene gestito un processo di riorganizzazione e di possibile ingresso di nuovi investitori.
Per garantire la qualità e l’equità sportiva dei principali eventi internazionali della stagione, la classe ha deciso di non disputare nel 2026 il Campionato del Mondo originariamente previsto in Australia, a causa delle incertezze sulla disponibilità e sulla quantità di barche charter necessarie per un evento di questo livello.
Di conseguenza, il Campionato Europeo in programma a Calasetta diventerà il Campionato del Mondo O’Pen Skiff 2026, trasformando l’evento in uno degli appuntamenti più importanti della vela giovanile internazionale della stagione.
La manifestazione sarà organizzata dalla Lega Navale Italiana – Sezione Sulcis, con il supporto della Federazione Italiana Vela, e porterà nel Sud Sardegna centinaia di giovani velisti provenienti da numerosi Paesi.
Per la LNI Sulcis si tratta di un riconoscimento significativo del lavoro svolto negli ultimi anni nell’organizzazione di eventi internazionali dedicati alla classe O’Pen Skiff e nella promozione della vela giovanile.
Il Campionato del Mondo di Calasetta rappresenterà inoltre una straordinaria occasione di promozione sportiva e turistica per il territorio, confermando la Sardegna come una delle destinazioni più apprezzate per la vela giovanile internazionale.
Nei prossimi mesi proseguirà il lavoro organizzativo per accogliere al meglio atleti, tecnici e accompagnatori in vista di questo importante appuntamento sportivo.

Logistica e ospitalità
Calasetta offrirà ai team europei una logistica semplice ed efficiente.
La Lega Navale del Sulcis, in collaborazione con le strutture ricettive del territorio, sta preparando:
- Convenzioni speciali con hotel, B&B e residence dell’Isola di Sant’Antioco
- Parcheggi dedicati per carrelli e furgoni delle squadre
- Una base logistica ampliata, con spazi per armare le barche in sicurezza
- Area ristoro e accoglienza team presso la sede LNI
Inoltre, le acque protette e riparate del Canale di San Pietro rendono l’area ideale sia per l’attività agonistica sia per le sessioni di allenamento pre-evento.

The O’Pen Skiff European Championship in Calasetta becomes the 2026 World Championship
An important update has been announced for the international O’Pen Skiff calendar: the European Championship scheduled in Calasetta from July 25 to 31, 2026 will be upgraded to the O’Pen Skiff World Championship.

The decision was communicated by the International O’Pen Skiff Class following the situation involving Tahe Outdoors France, the manufacturer of the O’Pen Skiff boat, which on February 27, 2026 initiated judicial reorganization proceedings at the Commercial Court of Vannes, France. This procedure, provided for under French law, allows the company to continue operating while a restructuring process and the possible entry of new investors are managed.
In order to ensure the quality and sporting fairness of the major international events of the season, the Class has decided not to hold the 2026 World Championship originally planned in Australia, due to uncertainties regarding the confirmed availability and quantity of charter boats required for an event of this level.
As a result, the European Championship scheduled in Calasetta will become the 2026 O’Pen Skiff World Championship, turning the event into one of the most important international youth sailing competitions of the season.
The event will be organised by the Lega Navale Italiana – Sulcis Section, with the support of the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), and will bring hundreds of young sailors from many countries to Southern Sardinia.
For LNI Sulcis, this represents an important recognition of the work carried out in recent years in organising international O’Pen Skiff events and in promoting youth sailing.
The World Championship in Calasetta will also represent an extraordinary opportunity to promote both sport and tourism in the area, confirming Sardinia as one of the most appreciated destinations for international youth sailing.
In the coming months, organisational work will continue in order to welcome athletes, coaches and teams in the best possible way for this important international event.

Calasetta will offer simple and efficient logistics for all European teams.
The Lega Navale Sulcis, in collaboration with local accommodation providers, is preparing:
- Special accommodation deals with hotels, B&Bs and residences on the Island of Sant’Antioco
- Dedicated parking areas for team trailers and vans
- An expanded logistic base with safe and organized areas for rigging the boats
- A hospitality and refreshment area for teams at the LNI headquarters
